Yay we have our Müzekart+.
Tomorrow we are off to Cappadocia, my research and talking to a couple of expat friends who had purchased their cards a few weeks back, convinced me that we needed to get cards before we go as they can be used to gain free entry into some of the open air museums and underground cities free of charge.
According to the official web site, the cards can be purchased at the ticket offices of several of the sites and by foreigners as long as they have a Residency Permit and a second form of photo identification. None of the sites in Cappadocia were listed as issuing the cards so we decided to head 40 minutes down the road to St Johns Basilica at Selçuk, where we know they are issued.
There was a very helpful lady at the ticket desk who was able to understand my attempt at Turkish and within 10 minutes all three of us had our cards issued, (our UK driving licences were enough for the photo identification), complete with photos on the reverse, amazing service.
There are two levels of card, we went for the most expensive at 50tl each, which gives us unlimited free entries to the attractions listed, (if there is an additional charge for entry into areas once inside the main area, you do still have to pay these entry fees), as well as discounts on other services, yet to find out what these are. The 30tl card has a limit of only 2 entries to any one attraction. Both types of card are valid for 1 year.
And of course, once we had our cards, we had to test them out by having a quick look around St John's Basilica, so that's 10tl entry each, saved so far. I am going to keep a tab on the savings we have made during our trip, but I am sure it is going to work out for the better.
Well that's it for now, time to pack, 5.45am pick up tomorrow morning. Update soon.....
